First unveiled during a Designer Creates a Cybertruck Cyber Camper Concept, the Genesis GV80 is a luxury SUV designed to meet and then exceed your expectations when it comes to the prestige SUV category. Genesis Motors has been turning heads with its luxury vehicles for going on five years now, and their latest SUV just launched in Australia.
The Genesis GV80 features a sleek design and possesses athletic elegance. Defining the nose is a broad, matrix grille flanked by quad headlights inspired by the wings of the Genesis Motors emblem. This gives the GV80 a predatory stance when viewed from the front. The SUV’s well-balanced proportions are emphasised by a roofline with smooth contours and crisp edges, and underlined by eye-catching 20- or 22-inch alloy wheels. Quad taillights and pure forms complete the visual package, creating an overall low and sporty stance.
The Genesis GV80 is offered in four variants, with three powertrains available. Check under the hood of the flagship model, and you will discover a 3.5-litre turbo V6 engine capable of producing 279kW and 530Nm. This powertrain configuration is paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel-drive. Alternately, there’s a 2.5-lite variant, a 3-lite and a turbo diesel, with optional rear-wheel drive to choose from.
Aussies will appreciate a chassis that’s specifically tuned to deliver optimal balance and comfort over urban streets, highways, dirt and gravel country roads. The tuning affects suspension and steering settings that were developed over thousands of kilometres of local testing.
Both the GV80 3.0D and 3.5T models also adopt the Genesis Adaptive Control Suspension feature which uses the front camera to monitor the road ahead and automatically initiates adaptive damper control. Additionally, these variants score an electro-mechanical limited slip differential, delivering improved driving performance on rough roads, as well as heightened handling.
A Terrain/Drive Mode system is available to all owners and provides Eco, Comfort, Sport and Custom modes for road driving, as well as specific settings for snow, mud and sand driving.
Venturing inside and the Genesis GV80 possesses a luxurious cabin with a premium leather finish matched with open-pore real wood trims. Both leather and wood trim are available in your choice of colour. The unique dashboard design creates a spacious open-plan feel which seamlessly blends into the door trims.
Headlining the dash is a 14.5-inch Genesis infotainment system with a touchscreen, classy central controller dial and a 12.0-inch Heads-Up Display. If you opt-in for the luxury package, you will also benefit from a 12.3-inch 3D instrument cluster.
Additional luxury features include wireless smartphone charging and a 1050 Watt, 21 speaker Lexicon premium sound system capable of producing, crisp, larger-than-life sound.
The GV80 is equipped with all the safety features you would expect from a high-end SUV, but it’s the inclusion of advanced technologies that truly helps this unique ride stand out from the competition. We’re talking features like augmented reality navigation which uses the front-facing camera to show the road ahead and overlaps the footage with navigation details in real-time.
When parking in tight spots, the GV80 can provide a 3D view of your full surroundings, taking care of any blind spots and making you feel more comfortable and confident. Or you can take advantage of Remote Smart Park Assist which analyses a parking space and automatically controls the steering wheel and speed when parking and driving out.
