Once a means of comfort for foot transportation (who does that anymore), sneakers have become a rare and sought-after commodity and a lucrative business for many. That extends to rare clothing, collectables, and accessories from the top streetwear fashion brands on earth. Here, collaborations fuel the culture, and the following pieces from Christie’s upcoming ‘The Greats’ auction showcase the extent to which streetwear represents some of the most expensive items on earth.
Running from 29 November at 10:00 AM to 6 December at 11:00 AM EST, Christie’s ‘The Greats’ is the inaugural auction under the new department at Christie’s — Sneakers, Streetwear and Collectibles – and will highlight some of the most important items from the last century. Let’s check them out.
