Nike’s all-time best running shoe gets an upgrade and she’s a helluva looker. Introducing the Nike Zoom Pegasus Turbo.
Announced last night in Tokyo, the Pegasus Turbo is built for runners by runners. If you’re getting a Nike Zoom Vaporfly Elite vibe you’d be onto something. the Pegasus Turbo uses the same innovative ZoomX foam used in Nike’s dominant marathon shoes the Vaporfly Elite and 4%. The ZoomX foam delivers, what Nike calls, the greatest energy return of any Nike foam. For those of you who aren’t physicists, this basically means you can run faster for longer. This magic foam is the same as used in Nike’s Breaking2 campaign, adapted for everyday use.
Informed by athlete insight such as Eliud Kipchoge, the Pegusus Turbo is the daily running shoe adaptation of the Vaporfly Elite. Dubbed “a little too fast for everyday use”, the Pegasus Turbo doesn’t include the Vaporfly Elite’s iconic carbon fiber plate. This plate provided a propulsion sensation that, while being ideal for race day, was not designed for the everyday runner. On its own, the ZoomX foam provides the comfortable kick that running aficionados appreciate.
The ZoomX foam delivers an astonishing 85% energy return rate whilst still managing to be the lightest foam ever developed by Nike. A men’s size 10 Pegasus Turbo will come in at around 230grams (8.2 oz).
The Nike Zoom Pegasus Turbo will be available globally on the 2nd of August.
