Bentley Motors and The Macallan have come together for the brands 200th Anniversary and created one of the most unique (and expensive) whisky vessels we’ve ever seen. For a suggested retail price of $50,000 per bottle you can get your hands on this 180-degree rotating piece of art that takes all the best elements of a Bentley to house some of the finest liquid in the whisky world.
What you’re looking at is a precision engineered recycled copper frame that includes copper from the stills previously used by The Macallan, prior to the internationally acclaimed Distillery being unveiled in 2019. Then there’s the aluminum ribbon that shrounds the glass vessel, and on the inside, a fine low carbon leather in a chestnut colorway to finish and protect the dram inside.
The closure is integral to the design with one of the six casks used in the maturation of this whisky, inspired by the aesthetics of the Bentley Drive Dynamic Control rotary dial. Finally, the sculpture is finished with Bentley’s Crown Cut Walnut veneer.

Of course, the whisky inside the vessel is just as special. It’s a bespoke single malt created by The Macallan Master Whisky Maker Kirsteen Campbell. The liquid spent time in six ‘painstakingly selected’ first-fill sherry seasoned oak casks from the stocks maturing at the estate. Campbell chose casks that bring unique flavour characteristics to The Macallan Horizon as the spirit absorbs an intense flavour, texture, and colour.
Those lucky enough to get their hands on a bottle should expect rich and indulgent dried fruit and spice balanced with oak and leather aromas like those from the world of premium motor cars. Like a W12 ‘Speed’ model Bentley, there’s enough kick to leave a lasting finish. The ABV is set at 46.6%–a nod to the six casks, six materials and The Macallan’s Six Pillars. We expected it to be totally over the top, and it delivered.
Want to get your hands on a bottle? Well, you’ll either have to know someone at the brand or get lucky when they hit online retailers like Dram Fellows. It might be expensive at US$50,000 but these are collectors items, and like any The Macallan bottle, we wouldn’t expect these to hang around for very long.
