As the New York International Auto Show winds up, petrolheads are still taking in the exciting announcements made by car manufacturers during the show. Of particular interest is the Mercedes Benz announcement of the new 2020 CLA 35.
The CLA 35 shares a lot with the A 35 in terms of specs. It houses a turbocharged 2.0-litre, four-cylinder engine capable of 302 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque. That means the CLA is going to go from 0 to 100 kilometres per hour in just 4.6 seconds. With a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission providing power to all four wheels, the CLA will also have the ability to split torque 50/50 between the front and rear wheels.
The CLA also has improved brakes and lighter front suspension. Wheels come as 18-inch standards, but with an optional upgrade to 19-inch.
Technology will also be a major feature of the CLA 5. The AMG Track Pace app will record and store information ranging from throttle inputs to lap times and G-force. On the dash, you’ll find two 10.25 inch screens. You can select from the Classic, Sport, and Supersport display modes. The CLA 35 is also MBUX voice-enabled.
The cabin layout comes in a number of two-tone schemes and features 64-color LED ambient lighting. As another upgrade, buyers can opt for bucket seats instead of the standard sport seats.
No word on pricing yet, but the CLA 35 is slated to be at American dealers late in the year.
