There’s been a lot of hype about the Nike React Element 87, and from all indications, it’s warranted. Word was that the shoe was going to be unveiled as part of a partnership with Jun Takahashi’s UNDERCOVER imprint, but, like most things in life, change is inevitable. Instead, Element 87 will be a non-collaborative release.
The Element 87 shoes have a semi translucent upper—not the first time we’ve seen this approach. Check out the Nike Zoom Fly. The translucence is accomplished through the Nike-developed TPE yarn. What’s different with the Element 87 is the lower Swoosh logo that seems to be sinking into the midsole. The heel has exterior taping while the trail-style lacing is made of leather and suede that has reflective accents. Rather than the traditional tongue, the Element 87 tongue is more angled. The sole is made from Nike’s React foam, which means that it will be ultra soft and comfortable. The sole is embedded in a rubber outsole for increased wear and traction. Looks-wise, the Element 87 is set to release in “Sail Light Bone” and Anthracite Black.”
