Continuing the anniversary celebrations for its iconic Air Force 1, Nike hosted a competition amongst 12 creatives to design an upcoming Nike Air sneaker with vintage clothing connoisseur and Air Max fan Sean Wotherspoon taking out the top prize.
Sean Wotherspoon’s winning design the Air Max 1/97 SW combines the Air Max 97 upper with the Air Max 1 midsole and outsole and uses a corduroy covering to give a retro feel. The multicoloured corduroy upper blends pastel and earthy tones for a unique and eye-catching look.
The heel features denim detailing, while a velcro addition on the tongue that allows the wearer to swap out the front graphic. Options include a barrelling wave and Nike’s Swoosh logo.
The Vote Forward competition was open to the public. Consumers could browse the shoes and vote for their favourite from the 12 styles. The colourful Air Max 1/97 SW sneakers will be released in Australia on 24th March available online and at select retailers.
