It was only a matter of time before fitness wearables went fancy, and the new Gucci x Oura Ring has set quite a high bar. For those unaware, the circular-shaped device is one of the leading health trackers on the market, utilising sensors that can read a person’s heart rate, temperature and respiratory rate. One of its most significant advantages in the market is its unassuming presence, imitating a regular piece of jewellery in several colourway options. However, there’s now a high-end luxury option for the fashion-forward athletes among us.

Subtle yet distinct, the Italian house has left its fingerprints all over the Gucci x Oura Ring. The first notable change is its completely circular shape, unlike the near-circle with one flattish side of the conventional Oura Ring Generation 3. And where the original has no markings, two chains of 18-carat gold (called a braided torchon) run around its circumference. Additionally, Gucci’s interlocking monogram has been placed around the ring in all black, except for one which is gold. If you needed any more reminders, even the charging puck and USB-C connector feature numerous interlocking G’s. Oh, and the centre of the puck says Gucci, in gold, of course.
Similar to other Oura Rings, this version is made of titanium and weighs just 4 grams. The technology inside the ring is also identical to other models, using the same software and sensors. It measures a person’s heart rate from the arteries in the finger, providing users with a daily Sleep, Activity and Readiness score. The information is detailed and comprehensive, aiming to highlight waking patterns and illuminate a path for optimising the day.
Unsurprisingly, the Gucci x Oura Ring comes with a hefty price tag. You can pick one up on the Gucci website for a cool AU$1590, significantly higher than the original. However, the Gucci variant does come with a lifetime subscription to the service, removing roughly AU$10 in monthly fees. So if you break out the calculator and do the maths, you could actually save money over time! However, it’s unlikely you’ll be rocking the same fitness technology in a decade.
