Keshen8 has another LEGO short film to add to his library, “The Exterminator.” This time the well known “brickfilmer” had a futuristic vision for his 218,000 subscribers. The new film starts with a minifig dressed in a white riding suit and helmet rolling up on a wasted urban landscape. Debris is everywhere. Walls are broken down and windows are smashed. The rider jumps off the bike and deploys three discs that fly off in separate directions in a search mode. After a few moments, one of the drones reports back that it has found its target—a potential artificial intelligence.
The rider comes to the location, arming himself with a LEGO version of a -90-style submachine gun. After removing some debris stacked on top of the target, he finds himself facing off against a hunter-killer drone that is armed to the teeth. He ducks and dodges to get cover, with his rounds bouncing off of the drone’s shields. Sliding under the drone, he is able to blast off one gun and shield, but loses his rifle and is forced to jump on top of the flying object. He’s able to place an explosive before he gets thrown off, activating it just before the drone comes in for a kill. The explosion takes out the target. Reporting in on the kill, the Exterminator is rewarded with $10,000 for his bounty on the artificial intelligence.
The short film calls to mind The Matrix and the Terminator movies, with plenty of action, and very little dialogue. It’s an enjoyable film to watch, and at just over four minutes in length, it doesn’t take much time and it keeps you entertained. It’s no wonder that the Australia-based Keshen8 has so many subscribers, and that he has racked up nearly 100,000,000 video views.
