Among the new faces fans can expect for The Witcher season 2 are Paul Bullion as Lambert, Yasen Atou as Coën and Kim Bodnia as Vesemir. “There are so many characters that we’re introducing in Season 2. We are getting to see Dijkstra for the first time and sort of the Redanian Kingdoms,: showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich said at WitcherCon.

“There’s so many, but I would have to say Vesemir is the one I’m looking most forward to our audience meeting. Vesemir is so integral to the story that we’re telling this season. Obviously, we’re returning to Kaer Morhen for the first time, and in a season that is about Geralt becoming a father to Ciri, it felt so important to meet who his father figure was.”

Season 2 of the hit series will see Geralt of Rivia (Cavill), convinced Yennefer’s life was lost at the Battle of Sodden looking to bring Princess Cirilla to the safest place he knows, his childhood home of Kaer Morhen. Meanwhile the Continent’s kings, elves, humans and demons strive for supremacy outside its walls, he must protect the girl from something far more dangerous: the mysterious power she possesses inside.

“I played the Season One way deliberately, which was him out in the wilds and without the opportunity for vast swathes of dialogue,” star Henry Cavill said via PA. “I thought it best to be the man who says less because that seems like he’s thinking more. And that was the intention with that. But once you get into a scenario with Cirilla, and the Witchers and his home space and with those people who he already knows, I was of the opinion that you had to let him be verbose and be philosophical and speak more and be intellectual, because that’s what he is. He’s not just a big old white-haired brute.”

2 the witcher season 2 release date

The initial key art builds on the cryptic teaser that Netflix shared in June during its Geeked Week event and it looks to be a winner, and that’s no mean feat. The journey of season two production has been challenging. Production west of London came to a halt in November 2020 when a number of crew members tested positive for COVID-19. Just a month later, Cavill suffered an injury on set, pushing the final shooting to April. The good news appears to be that setbacks haven’t quashed quality. Come December, all will be revealed.

The Witcher season 2 will premiere on Netflix globally on December 17 2021.
