The World Cup might be over, but that won’t stop Nike Football from innovating. In early August, the athletic footwear brand will bring its latest masterpiece, the PhantomVSN, to Australian turf. Featured on the stylish boot is an internal “Quadfit” mesh, which conforms to the foot without overstretching. Consequently, the boot delivers absolute support, instant wearability, and some next level comfort as well. Oh, and the kicks look downright incredible to boot–no pun intended.
The Nike PhantomVSN was conceived by designer Phil Woodman, who took an unorthodox approach this time around. Instead of starting on the outside and working his way in, Woodman developed the boot from the inside out and discovered a new proprietary construction in the process. Nike Football was so enamoured with the result that they plan to implement Woodman’s innovation into all their footwear moving forward. Thanks to the development of this propietary mesh, the PhantomVSN doesn’t require an adjustment period, and immediately adapts to the foot.
Never one to rest on a single innovation, Nike Football also introduces a ‘Ghost Lace System’ on the PhantomVSN, which relies on one-pull construction to distribute equal tension all the way down the foot. Furthermore, the laces can be tucked out of sight, hence the name. As a result, the visually striking boot looks all the more sleek and uniform in its appearance. Additionally featured are a Nike Flyknit upper, NikeReact cushioning, a strategically placed medial triangle, a new traction pattern, and lightweight plates over the studs for improved zonal support.
Naturally, swaths of football pros are eager to rock Nike’s latest. To that end, look for stars like Philippe Coutinho, Mallory Pugh, Kevin De Bruyne, Fran Kirby, and Leon Goretzka to be wearing PhantomVSNs during upcoming matches. As for the rest of us, the boots will be available starting August 2, both online and at select retailers.
