Leading airline and official sponsor of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, Emirates, has teamed up with former Australian cricket captain Ricky Ponting AO to host a game of “backyard cricket” at the Melbourne Cricket Ground with deserving cricket fans in support of men’s mental health.

Eleven Movember ambassadors took part in the Emirates cricket clinic to kick off the hairy month and raise awareness for men’s mental health through participating in the spirited cricket match. Ponting umpired the friendly backyard cricket match with men and women from Movember right in the middle of one of the biggest stadiums in Australia.

In attendance from Movember included individuals who are mental health ambassadors, cancer survivors and long-standing fundraisers that have made a major impact on the charity.

Aussie Camps on World’s Largest Plastic Pyramid in Egypt to Raise Awareness about Waste

The world’s largest plastic waste pyramid (the size of a three-story building!) has been revealed in the Egyptian desert and Aussie Mike Smith is camping on its top for three days to raise global awareness about the single-use plastic problem.

Mike is the founder of zero-waste startup, Zero Co, who have just pulled 1Million water bottles worth of rubbish out of the Nile River and built the pyramid that is a whopping 10m tall, 12m wide and weighing more than 18,000kgs. The audacious stunt is marking the launch of the 100YR CLEANUP – an initiative which aims to remove 15Million water bottles worth of rubbish from the natural environment every year, for the next 100 years.

Whilst the world’s climate leaders come together to discuss the planet’s future at COP27 in Egypt this week, Mike is offering individuals around the world an opportunity to take direct climate action and be part of the 100YR CLEANUP by sponsoring a bundle of rubbish, from as little as $20.

Kmart’s Wishing Tree is Back to Support Australian Families

SEEK is Giving Away $20,000 Cash for Your Next Annual Leave Break

For a country synonymous with being laid-back and a love of travel – many of us are well overdue for a break from work! In fact, according to recent data from the employment marketplace, SEEK, nearly half (46%) Australians have more than 20 days of annual leave owing – this equates to roughly $65 billion in unused annual leave.

SEEK’s research reveals that a third of Australian workers haven’t had a holiday in over a year. In an important reminder from SEEK’s Resident Psychologist, Sabina Read, she states that “we aren’t limitless vessels. We can’t continue to add more to our loads without taking something away. A holiday from work can be just the tonic to help balance our mind, body, and soul.“

To encourage Aussies to take a break from work, SEEK is also running a competition to win $20,000 cash to go towards their next break. For further information and to enter the competition, visit: the Seek Holiday website.
