Luxury automaker Porsche is revving battery-powered production into high gear and dropping yet another electric sports sedan. Available with two battery sizes, the new Taycan 4S represents the entry-level model in the celebrated Taycan range. While indisputably symbolic of a new automotive era, the sleek car nevertheless retains Porsche’s unmistakable design purity. Welcome to the new frontier of power and performance, minus the emissions.
When powered by the Performance battery, the new Taycan 4S produces up to 390 kW (530 hp) of overboost output. Opt for the Performance battery Plus and that number goes up to 420 kW (571 hp). The Performance battery delivers a range of up to 407 km while the Performance battery Plus is good for up to 463 km before needing a recharge, putting it at the top of the current Taycan range. Both versions accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.0 seconds, and reach a top speed of 250 km/h.
Sleek and curvy on the outside, the Taycan 4S rocks an equally sexy interior. Features include a free-standing curved instrument cluster, which reaches an apex on the dashboard and thereby places a focus on the driver axis. That’s joined by a central 10.9″ infotainment display, which combines with an optional passenger display to form an integrated glass band. The future of driving just keeps getting better.
