Samsung is launching its own flagship wireless earbuds to rival Apple’s AirPods for a dose of healthy competition. Samsung Galaxy Buds are set to coincide with the launch of the Galaxy S10 on March 8, 2019, and are priced at RRP $249. If you’re in the market for a new smartphone, pre-order the Galaxy S10 and score a free pair of Galaxy Buds.
Galaxy Buds are said to be comfortable with easy-to-use controls, clear and smart sound, and are compact in size, making the earbuds an everyday in-ear lifestyle companion.
The sound is tuned by AKG, who also handled the S10 and Galaxy Fold smartphones. Galaxy Buds do not feature noise cancellation, instead opting for Enhanced Ambient Sound technology, allowing the user to clearly hear surroundings while taking a call or listening to tunes. There are two adaptive microphones in each earbud so that users can deliver voice calls in both loud and quiet environments.
Galaxy Buds offer up to six hours of Bluetooth streaming and up to five hours of calls on a single charge. Plus, their compact case holds a charge for up to seven hours and provides 1.7 hours of use on a 15-minute quick charge. With wireless charging and device-to-device power-sharing, users can get a quick charging boost on the go from a Galaxy S10 smartphone.
Galaxy Buds are also integrated with the Bixby intelligent assistant, so users can place calls, send texts and check battery life without ever picking up a phone.
Samsung Galaxy Buds are set to launch in Black, White and Neon Yellow colourways on March 8, 2019. In other Samsung news, the tech giant is also launching a Galaxy Active smartwatch with a design that falls somewhere between sports watch and minimalist timepiece.
