Disney’s Iconic Cinderella Takes a Haunting Turn in Newly Revealed Horror Film
Cinderella’s journey is undergoing a thrilling transformation as the beloved Disney fairytale morphs into a bone-chilling horror extravaganza. While Disney movies typically convert dark and twisted tales into cheerfully animated spectacles, it’s important to remember that the most original versions of these classic fairy tales held deeply unsettling punches and wicked twists. Now, delving back into the gory and gruesome origins, we are on the verge of witnessing a bloody makeover for one of the studio’s most prominent films in ChampDog Films’ upcoming project, Cinderella’s Curse.
Produced and directed by Louisa Warren, this new film will put a bloodthirsty spin on the timeless tale of Cinderella and promises to be a “dark retelling.” The film will be directed and produced by Louisa Warren from a screenplay by Mary Had A Little Lamb’s Harry Boxley.

While not much was revealed surrounding the film’s plot, it’s been revealed that the cast will include Kelly Rian Sanson, Chrissie Wunna and Danielle Scott. Filming is slated to commence sometime this June in the UK, and the movie aims to hit the big screens just in time for the spooky Halloween season in October 2023. While discussing the project, the film’s director, Louisa Warren, told Bloody Disgusting, “This an incredibly unique spin on the Cinderella we all love and know. There are going to be some truly horrific deaths by her hands.” Warren added, “I think the gore hounds are in for a treat in my dark retelling.”
The tale of Cinderella has a far more sinister and unadulterated origin than the sugar-coated versions we’re familiar with. In the original rendition published by Perrault in 1697 and later retold by the Grimm brothers in 1812, Cinderella endures the cruelty of a wicked stepmother and her equally dreadful stepsisters. However, things take a truly bizarre turn as the stepsisters go to extreme lengths to fit into the fateful golden slipper (not the glass one depicted in the movie), even resorting to mutilating their own feet. Adding to the darkness, the story’s epilogue reveals an unsettling conclusion after Cinderella’s marriage to the prince. Driven by her deep-seated resentment, she commands her birds to ruthlessly pluck out the eyes of her wicked stepsisters.
Sounds like the perfect plotline for a gory horror film.
