Following a 50 year hiatus, Ferrari is launching a new Spider equipped with a front-mounted V12. It’s a tribute to classic models that played crucial roles in the Italian motor company’s long history.
The Ferrari 812 GTS is said to set a new benchmark in terms of performance and exclusivity. Sporting Ferrari’s 800 cv V12 engine, GTS is the most powerful production Spider on the market and also the most versatile, thanks to its retractable hardtop and larger boot capacity.
The Ferrari 812 GTS can accelerate from 0 to 100km in just 3.0 seconds and exceed speeds of 340km/h. The sports car is equipped with a 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox and thanks to its ability to unleash a massive 800 cv at 8500 rpm, is the most powerful engine in its class.
The retractable hardtop opens in just 14 seconds at speeds of up to 45 km/h. The electric rear screen acts as a wind-stop, making the car more ‘useable’ with the top down. With the top up, it can be left open so occupants can fully appreciate the V12’s unique soundtrack.
Based on the 812 Superfast, the 812 GTS echoes the formal language without altering either its exterior dimensions or interior space and comfort. From the side, the 812 GTS has a fastback sleekness: a two-box design with a high tail reminiscent of the 365 GTB4 Daytona of 1968 – one of the last Spiders to feature a front-mounted engine.
The draped design of the flanks visually shortens the tail and is characterised by sharply slanted crease lines and muscular wheel arches perfect for an imposing V12. The entire rear of the car has been redesigned. The idea was to create a new blend of sleekness and balance.
The new Ferrari 812 GTS also features a new, highly sculptural and model-specific multi-spoke forged wheel. A choice of three versions will be offered: diamond-finish, liquid silver and Grigio Scuro.
