Good news! The Samsung Galaxy S10 5G edition will be available in Australia from next week – May 28 to be precise, via Telstra and Samsung Stores. Along with access to the expanding 5G network, the new Galaxy S10 includes a larger screen, larger battery and an already impressive camera.
Telstra customers who purchased the Galaxy S10+ during the eligibility period earlier this year will be able to upgrade to the Galaxy S10 5G at no additional cost, so long as the upgrade takes place within 21 days of the launch. For everyone else who purchased a Galaxy S10, 4G is not so bad. Better than the NBN in some locations.
Out-of-the-box, when in 5G, the S10 can download a full-length film in seconds and enhance applications that demand high volumes of data like AR, VR, gaming and video conferencing. Other features include a 6.7-inch Infinity-O Display and a 4,500mAh battery with Super-Fast charging capabilities.
As 5G is still quite limited in Australia, the smartphone reverts to 4GX in other areas or the regular 4G. Telstra anticipates some level of 5G coverage for all capital cities by June 30 2019.
The device will be available with 256GB or 512GB memory variants. Two colour options will also be available, these being Crown Silver for the 256GB variant or Majestic Black for the 256GB and 512GB variants. Telstra is announcing mobile plans closer to May 28.
“5G-enabled devices are the next step towards customers experiencing the potential of this revolutionary network technology,” says Kevin Teoh, Telstra Consumer Segment Executive.
“Faster downloads, high-resolution video streaming with less buffering and better mobile gaming on the go are just the start of the network technology’s possibilities.”
