Hot on the heels of the Galaxy S10 and Galaxy Fold smartphone announcements, Samsung detailed its new Galaxy Watch Active, a slim smartwatch for the fashion-forward. Galaxy Watch Active is a versatile offering falling somewhere between sports watch and minimalist timepiece.
Galaxy Watch Active can monitor exercise, sleep, stress and health tracking for a complete well being package. Blood pressure monitoring comes to Galaxy wearables for the first time. A stress widget offers breathing exercises, and Galaxy Watch Active keeps up with you by auto-detecting when you run, cycle, row, use the elliptical trainer or start a dynamic workout. Users can also manually engage in more than 39 activities, set daily goals and monitor progress.
The watch itself is far slimmer than previous Samsung Gear models, doing away with the rotating bezel for starters. The 40mm dial features a 28mm AMOLED full colour always on display protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3. It’s powered by an Exynos 9110 Dual-core 1.15 GHz processor with 768MB RAM and 4GB Internal Memory.
Galaxy Watch Active is compatible with Android and iOS phones and offers favourite apps like Under Armour, Spotify and Strava. Bixby voice capabilities enable hands-free calls and texts.
Samsung’s Galaxy Watch Active will be available in silver, black, rose gold and sea green colourways with a variety of 20mm interchangeable straps. Stay tuned for more info regarding a price and release date.
