Our 11 Most Anticipated TV Shows of 2024

Television is in a golden age, with streaming services offering up more opportunities for big-budget projects and great variety in the type of content audiences see on the silver screen. With shows such as The Last of Us, Succession and more releasing in 2023, audiences are looking ahead to 2024 with major excitement. After all, the new year poses to bring back some beloved television to screens as well as introduce some new massive worlds to the silver screen. With that being said, here are some of our picks for the most anticipated TV shows to look out for in 2024.

Most Anticipated TV Series of 2024 at a Glance

Masters of the Air (January 26, 2024)

The long-awaited Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks reunion is set to land this year and it is arguably the most anticipated new show of 2024. The screen legends have once again teamed up for an all-encompassing war epic, following the successes of Saving Private Ryan to the gripping series The Pacific. The dynamic duo’s latest effort is titled Masters of the Air and will serve as a sequel (of sorts) to the classic series Band of Brothers.

Distributed by Apple TV+, the new series is helmed by No Time to Die’s Cary Joji Fukunaga and boasts a USD$250 million budget, so naturally, expectations are high. Masters of the Air is based on Donald L. Miller’s book of the same name and follows the men of the 100th Bomb Group, aka the ‘Bloody Hundredth’, as they conduct a series of dangerous bombing raids over Nazi Germany. According to the official synopsis, the action-packed drama aims to portray the “psychological and emotional price paid by these young men as they helped destroy the horror of Hitler’s Third Reich.”

The series boasts a star-studded cast led by Academy Award nominee Austin Butler, alongside Callum Turner, Anthony Boyle, Nate Mann, Rafferty Law, Academy Award nominee Barry Keoghan, Josiah Cross, Branden Cook, and Ncuti Gatwa. And joining Spielberg and Hanks behind the scenes is their longtime collaborator and executive producer weapon, Gary Goetzman.

However, Echo promises to be a must-see, with beloved character Daredevil set to return once again and a much more gritty and mature series, with Echo set to be the first MA 15+ Marvel show since the character was bought by Disney. As such, fans of the Netflix Marvel shows should check out Echo when it is released in 2024.

The Penguin (Release date TBC)

  • Starring: Colin Farrell, Cristin Milioti, Clancy Brown, Mark Strong

The latest iteration of the caped crusader, The Batman, set up the world of Gotham as a city filled with crime and various villains within it, similar to how many always envisioned it to be in the comics. One such villain to appear in the film was the Penguin, with Colin Farrell almost unrecognisable in the role due to an incredible amount of prosthetics and a menacing stance we’re not used to seeing from the Irish heartthrob.

While the character plays a secondary role in the film, HBO is set to release a new TV series in 2024 that places the character in the forefront. Following his journey to power and charting his unique path to becoming the man who eventually becomes one of Batman’s biggest arch-enemies.

Arguably the biggest TV release of 2024 is House of the Dragon season two. After smashing records during the first season, Game of Thrones fans are back in droves for the new prequel series, which stars Emma D’Arcy, Matt Smith and more.

Season two is set to be even bigger than the first, with the war between the Greens and the Blacks ready to kick into the next gear as conflict and destruction take centre stage. As is the way with Game of Thrones, expect political in-fighting and tactics to also be a prime feature of the second season of House of the Dragon.

Season two elevated the show to even greater heights, with the third season expected to do the same once again. While the show is yet to get a confirmed release date, it is likely to debut during the middle or second half of 2024.
