Luxury watch retailer The Hour Glass is celebrating 40 years in the industry by commissioning a limited edition TAG Heuer Monaco Calibre 11 chronograph wristwatch. The two brands have held a close partnership for some time. Long enough for The Hour Glass to score their very own limited run of 50 watches available from September.
Packaged in an exclusive box, the TAG Heuer Monaco Calibre 11 The Hour Glass Edition boasts a 39mm black steel case and bezel. The open sapphire caseback reveals the intricacies of Calibre 11 and is water-resistant to 100m.
A unique beige dial distinguishes the watch face with two chronograph counters at 3 and 9 o’clock. A date window is presented at 6 o’clock along with red indexes and black hour and minute hands. The hands and indexes illuminate in the dark. The seconds hand stands out thanks to its bold red colouring,
A black vintage Heuer logo and the words “Monaco Automatic Chronograph” add the finishing touches to this modern interpretation of an icon.
Launched 50 years ago in 1969, the Heuer Monaco was the first square, water-resistant automatic chronograph in Swiss watchmaking history. Named after the Monaco Grand Prix, the watch represented a complete break from the aesthetic codes of traditional watchmaking. It was also the first watch to house the chronograph movement, Calibre 11.
“The Monaco is an important part of TAG Heuer’s heritage, and on the back of its own 50th anniversary, we are extremely proud to join hands with The Hour Glass to create this special edition,” says Amelia Sillard, Managing Director of TAG Heuer for Southeast Asia and Oceania.
“Forty years is a milestone for any brand, and The Hour Glass has grown, blossomed and evolved with the times to become one of our most important partners in the region.”
The 50 TAG Heuer Monaco Calibre 11 The Hour Glass watches are available from September 2019 and will be retailing at AUD$8,900.
