‘The Boys’ Spin-Off ‘Gen V’ Trailer Takes the Show’s Bloody Chaos to College

The Boys has become one of the biggest success stories of Amazon’s streaming service, so it was only inevitable that a spinoff or two would arise. While The Boys: Diabolical offered some trademark violence and comedy in animated form, Gen V provides an entirely new storyline, diving into the world of superpowered students as they navigate college life. Fans attending CCXP, the largest comic convention in the world, were recently treated to the first look at the highly anticipated Amazon Original series Gen V, coming to Prime Video in 2023. Set at America’s only college exclusively for young adult superheroes (run by Vought International), “Gen V explores the lives of hormonal, competitive Supes as they put their physical, sexual, and moral boundaries to the test, competing for the school’s top ranking,” according to the official synopsis.

The first look at The Boys spinoff announced the series cast, including Jaz Sinclair, Chance Perdomo, Lizze Broadway, Shelley Conn, Maddie Phillips, London Thor, Derek Luh, Asa Germann, Patrick Schwarzenegger, Sean Patrick Thomas, and Marco Pigossi. The blood-soaked preview also revealed Clancy Brown, Alexander Calvert, and Jason Ritter and teased guest appearances from Jessie T. Usher, Colby Minifie, and P.J. Byrne, reprising their roles from The Boys.

Gen V‘s first official trailer doesn’t provide much in the way of plot or character but does include much of the signature gore fans have come to enjoy from the original. The show’s reportedly meant to run concurrently with The Boys’ fourth season, so it will be interesting to see whether storylines crossover.

Michele Fazekas and Tara Butters serve as showrunners and executive producers. The series is produced by Sony Pictures Television Studios and Amazon Studios in association with Kripke Enterprises, Point Grey Pictures, and Original Film. The Amazon Original series Gen V will be released on Prime Video globally in 2023.
