The adidas EQT Cushion ADV shoes are a part of the Original line, and point to their ancestry as a part of the Equipment line. The early ‘90s was a tough time for adidas. Facing bankruptcy, adidas brought in Peter Moore, the brains behind Air Jordan. Under his guidance, adidas made massive changes to how they produced shoes and developed the Equipment line, which was touted as being only the essentials.
Now in 2017, adidas is bringing back that history with the EQT. The design is an homage to the classic Equipment shape, but features a few modern twists. The upper is knit with a rubber outsole. The overlays are leather and welded suede and feature the 3-stripes webbing tape. The shoe also features the signature cushion 91-inspired TPU lace ghillie and heel cage with a suede heel patch. The interior of the shoe is of a soft terry and boasts an OrthoLite sockliner. The look definitely recalls to mind the designs of the 90s with their blocky silhouettes and sculpted looks.
adidas’s recent partnership with Kanye West makes for a great time to debut this new shoe. And why not recall the shoe that saved the company and went on to build a reputation of revolutionizing performance?
