To celebrate the 50th anniversary of “On Her Majesty’s Secret Service,” Swiss watchmaker OMEGA has released a new limited edition Seamaster Diver 300M. Awash with choice details and some clever Easter eggs, the 007-themed watch hosts a 42mm case of stainless steel and black PVD on the black ceramic dial. At the heart of the dial face is a spiral-brushed gun design—reminiscent of the franchise’s signature opening sequence—with a 9mm bullet head at the centre. Driving the Bond theme home is an 18k yellow gold plate that’s affixed to the case side and engraved with a Limited Edition number.
The use of 18k yellow gold on the hands, indexes, and plate is more purposeful than first meets the eye. A luxurious material in its own right, yellow gold is also inspired by the James Bond coat-of-arms. Meanwhile, the piece has a few more tricks up its sleeve. On the 7th day of each month, the number 7 will appear in the date window in the same font as the 007 logo. There’s also a hidden ’50’ on the 10 o’clock index, which only appears when the SuperLuminova comes to life at night or in dark environments. Crafty!
OMEGA’s relationship with the Bond franchise dates back to 1995’s “GoldenEye,” when Bond wore his first Seamaster Diver 300M. The connection has only grown stronger in the time since, remaining a source of great pride for the brand. OMEGA President and CEO Raynald Aeschlimann called the latest release “A fitting tribute to a classic Bond film and one of cinema’s most iconic characters. This extraordinary watch is elegant, full of surprises and sure to be extremely popular with collectors and fans of the character, due to its many Bond-related features.”
The new 007 watch is Master Chronometer certified and presented on a black rubber strap. It comes housed in a black box with gun barrel patterns and bullet head buttons as if lovers of the franchise would have it any other way. Just how many of these bad boys did OMEGA produce? 7007, naturally.
