You’ve trusted adidas as a reliable source of shoes that you can log the miles in. But the brand isn’t just for runners, they have something for cyclists as well. Granted, it’s been some 15 years since adidas put out a new cycling shoe, but that’s all recently changed with the release of the Road Cycling Shoes. Inspired by World Cup football boots, these shoes have an iconic look.
With a stiff yet responsive feel, the Road Cycling Shoes are designed to be comfortable for an extended period of time, and when you’re facing a long climb or flying through a winding descent, the last thing you want to be worried about is sore, aching, tired feet.
adidas went with a seamless design for the Road Cycling Shoes, which creates a sock-like fit, yet is still as supportive as a regular pair of cycling shoes. The upper is made of Primegreen, which is made of recycled materials and is breathable to provide extra comfort. The upper features woven jacquard design as well as the iconic adidas three stripes. The stripes combine with the blinker on the heel to improve visibility. The platform of the shoe is stiff to help promote energy transfer with every pedal stroke. The three-bolt cleat system is compatible for most road pedal systems. The shoes are secured via traditional laces.
The adidas Road Cycling Shoe is available in two colourways, Core Black and Cloud White. You can get a pair directly from adidas for USD$150. It’s been a while since they’ve offered a shoe for cycling, but now adidas is back on the bike, and they’re looking to dominate.
In fact, adidas’ vice president of specialist sports, Celine Del Genes, calls the Road Cycling Shoes “the first step of our long-term journey towards creating a range of products that enhance the cycling experience.” This offering is more than just a first step, it’s a big step in that direction.
