In honour of legendary designer Le Corbusier, Swiss watchmaker Rado has launched a range of eye-popping timepieces. Available in nine variants—each of which is respectively limited to 999 units—the True Thinline Les Couleurs Le Corbusier Collection fuses bold colour with the brand’s signature high-tech ceramic. It comes by way of a partnership with Les Couleurs Suisse, who holds the license to Le Corbusier’s original palette of architectural hues. According to Rado, this is merely the beginning of a long and potentially fruitful collaboration.
Swiss-born Le Corbusier ranks among the most iconic architects and designers of the modern era. A master of material and aesthetic alike, he developed seminal theories on colour. This paved the way for his own architectural palette, which consisted of 63 shades in total. Each one endures as a testament to its own particular resonance and Le Corbusier’s vision at large. Even 90 years after the colours were first introduced, architects and designers still take direct inspiration from them. With the True Thinline Les Couleurs Le Corbusier Collection, Rado is doing the same.
Through its collaboration with Les Couleurs Le Corbusier, Rado gains exclusive access to these brilliant colours, all 63 of which are displayed on each case-back. Taking things in the opposite direction, the case, dial, and strap are presented in a bold monochromatic shade. Each variant runs on quartz movement and features two hands, printed indexes, and the brand logo. Bursting with absolute distinction, the high-tech ceramic watch is currently available for US$2,750.
